"Baby Driver"

Vrrooom Vroom! It's only March and there is already a number one movie of the year! It's loud, it's rocking, and it is screeching onto screens in late June. "Baby Driver" is more than 6 years in the making and the wait would have been worth it if it took 60 years!

Buckle up ladies and lads, the movie written and directed by Edgar Wright, nabs you from the opening scene - a scene that is pure editing perfection - and rarely lets go!

"Baby" (Ansel Elgort) is a getaway driver working off a debt to a crime boss "Doc" (Kevin Spacey). He does so by putting the pedal to the medal for various groups of bank robbers. Admittedly, when you read a synopsis like that you have to question the sanity of anyone giving this flick a thumbs up, let alone a 10/10 rating. But, the joke is on you! It's better than chocolate and peanut butter - and this is coming from a girlie who knows all about chocolatey perfection!

Jon Hamm is delicious. Having picked up a tattoo or two it was Hamm who was the only actor left from the first table read years ago.

"My job was not to fuck it up," Hamm joked at the Q&A with the cast after the movies premiere. The actor would go on to tell tales of shooting action scenes in Atlanta with director Wright on the hood of a car looking more like a "sunburnt muppet" than a director.

The extra Vitamin D would pay off. What would come out of the sunscreen and screeching on the streets are some of the best car scenes ever to be shot on screen - truly! The film is perfectly paced and rarely hits a slow spot. Although, it does drag a bit when it comes to the yucky love stuff, it by no means is a big deal.

Spacey is on point with his character. He is, as always, perfect at getting you to hate him. Foxx is sometimes a little over the top but with the amount of screen time he has, it isn't annoying enough to take away from the movie. It is, as almost everything in the movie, just perfect.

I wouldn't have expected a car movie to top the list of a girls must see list. But it did. In fact, it is garnering my top spot for 2017.
